AJB DESIGN & BUILD was established in 2012 by Andy Betton, with the desire to provide friendly and professional architectural design, planning and building services to its clients, helping bring their dream homes to life.

The business was setup with the intention to bridge the gap between architect and contractor, with an emphasis on producing cost-effective, energy efficient and sustainable buildings that maximise the natural world around them.

With sustainable building being at the forefront of our business strategy, we are driven to develop energy efficient and environmentally friendly buildings that work in harmony with the natural world around them, this also extends to improving existing dwellings using our experience and knowledge to create extensions and renovations that enhance the buildings overall impact on the environment.

Using passive building design techniques and incorporating sustainable and efficient methods of heating, such as pellet boilers, log burners, heat pumps, solar thermal hot water panels and thermal stores, allows us to reduce a buildings overall energy consumption and lower its carbon footprint.

All this is achievable with good design, planning and building.

Using our friendly and comprehensive approach we endeavour to realise the full potential of any building or plot, including, historic buildings, domestic extensions and renovations, sites within AONB’s and conversation areas, and new build projects.

A major part of our work is providing applications regarding development on designated land (National Parks and the Broads, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, conservation areas and World Heritage Sites). Successful planning applications with in the Shropshire Hills AONB and on Grade II listed buildings reinforce our growing experience within this field of expertise allowing us to offer a very robust planning service, from initial on-site consultation through to submission of a detailed planning application. The more detailed applications will include Design & Access statements, environmental impact assessments and detailed drawings.

AJB Design & Build are also able to offer contractor services as well to take the project through to completion. This is more suitable to some projects than others, but we have a great set of sub-contractors that we can rely on to complete work to our high standards. All tradesmen will work under our management so that the client only has to deal with one person rather than several. 

Prior to work commencing we will work through a project plan, budget and contract with the customer to ensure they are happy with how the work will progress. Various contingencies are placed at various milestones within these documents to ensure the process is as smooth as possible.
